Product Information

Zirconia   Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), sometimes known as zirconia, is a while crystalline oxide of zirconium. It is originated commercially from Zircon(ZrSi02) or Baddeleyite natural minerals. The Property of Zirconia   Zirconia has excellent mechanical properties such as strength, toughness and abrasion resistance. And Zirconia has good thermal resistance and chemical endurance against both of acid and base. The Structure of Zirconia   Pure ZrO2 has a monoclinic crystal structure at room temperature and transforms tetragonal and cubic at increasing temperatures. The volume expansion caused by the cubic ti tetragonal to monoclinic transformation induces very large stresses, and will cause pure ZrO2 to crack upon cooling from high temperatures. To solve this problem, several different oxides are added to zirconia to stabilize the tetragonal and/or cubic phases. These 'stabilized state zirconia' are applied to various applications. The Application of Zirconia   Single crystals of the cubic phase of zirconia are commonly used as a substitute for diamond (diamond simulant) in jewelery. Polycrystal of the stabilized tetragonal zirconia are used as ceramic tools and devices. Especially 3Y-TZP (3mol% Yttria-stabilized Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystals), which used as starting materials for ceramic knife of Cutter Korea, are also used as frame of dental restorations, and head of artificial hip joint by good biocompatibility as well as superior mechanical properties.
